Demolition in Midland Ontario - Roxy Theatre becomes Midland Cultural Centre · Jun 11, 04:16 pm

Well let the Demolition begin!!!!

I still get chills thinking that my favourite Fred Lenz Mural will be demolished, but alas, it’s the sign of development I suppose. I would have to agree with comments made in The Midland Mirror just a couple days ago, where a woman made mention that it seemed to be a contradiction not to save such a beautiful piece of art for an Art Centre.

But I also understand, it would be very expensive and more than a bit challenging to keep such a large existing wall while constructing a new building, then to incorporate the structure into the building … well … tough.

So the show must go on and it will be a tremendous addition to the town of Midland, so I am looking forward to the change.

It’s all good as EVERYONE from restaurants to Galleries, to artists, to downtown, to townspeople to tourists .. we will all benefit from this great building! And imagine, it is only one block down the street from our location!

  1. Sad to see the Roxy go. It may have been falling apart and smelled of mould, but it had character.
