The Pool, Baie Fine, North Channel - new painting! · Jul 31, 07:59 pm

As a young person, I have taken many trips to what is known as The Pool located at the end of Baie Fine, North Channel … a stunning place nicely sheltered for boaters by the La Cloche Mountains. And if you anchor there for a period of time, you may have taken a hike up to Lake Topaz of Killarney Provincial Park – one of the most amazing coloured lakes of the Park (and quite the hike!)

This painting was a private commission for a very special wedding gift. The couple have many memories of visiting this place while they were dating and engaged to be married.

Painting of the Month - Killbear Provincial Park · Jul 22, 05:34 pm

This painting was inspired by Killbear Provincial Park … taken on a hot summer day just around the corner from the Park’s Main Beach.

The client’s who commissioned this piece frequented this location by boat and wanted a permanent memory of all their family trips to Killbear.

Installed at 30” x 60”, this piece truly captured the majesty of the landscape.

Western Islands, Georgian Bay PAINTING OF THE MONTH · Oct 6, 10:51 pm

…. and this is how it finished!

Also known as “Cory’s Cove”, inspired by an amazing young boy named Cory, who visited the gallery last week. Cory saw the work in progress and liked it just the way it was (a boy after my heart who enjoyed the ‘rawness’ of the strokes and pencil marks). You know who you are Cory, and hope you like the final piece.

Also inspired by an amazing ‘field trip’ last summer to the Western Islands … a group of Islands seemingly in the middle of nowhere, unprotected and raw!

This view is looking back towards ‘mainland’ – gone from sight is Giant’s Tomb near Awenda Park.

Silver Peak at Dawn - PAINTING OF THE MONTH - AUGUST 2011 · Aug 30, 04:50 pm

This piece is entitled “Peak at Dawn” and was inspired by a very early morning hike to Silver Peak in Killarney Provincial Park. Pastel like blue and yellow hues warmed the rock as we hiked around the highest peak in the Park.

PAINTING OF THE MONTH - July 2011 · Jul 29, 06:25 pm

I call this piece “Surviving Tree”.

The photos don’t do the piece justice but there are some very nice ‘sketch like’ brushstrokes in this piece.

Also using a slightly different palette of colours, there are beautiful blue, purple and red tones in the painting.

It will be on display for the first time at our gallery show August 5-7, 2011.
